What you should have in your car

During roadside checks, it may happen that the police officers will check your first-aid kit and mandatory elements of the car's equipment. Many people are afraid of this, so they usually have unnecessary elements that are no longer mandatory. So what is the mandatory equipment in 2020?

The latest decree, which came in 2018, regulates the composition of mandatory car equipment as well as first aid kits. What you should have with you is a reflective vest, a warning triangle, and a first aid kit. Remember that the warning triangle is always placed at least 50 meters from the car on a normal road and it is 100 meters on the highway. Fortunately, the obligation to have spare fuses or light bulbs with you is long gone. After all, with modern times and modern cars, you would hardly replace the lights yourself.

And what about the spare wheel? You don't have to have this with you only in cases where your car is equipped with running tires, which allow the indication of a defect and thus an emergency approach. If you have an assistance service arranged in your insurance, then you do not have to carry a spare bike with you either. Sometimes it is useful to have at least a tire repair kit with you, but it should be noted that this kit will not stick to a hole like Brno. It serves rather for minor defects of the tire casing.

The composition of the first aid kit is also important. Regularly check the consumption data of individual elements in it. If you only exchange individual elements, it will be less financially demanding for you than if you bought a new first aid kit after each one. Also, don't forget that if you use an element from the first aid kit, you have to add it again. From October 2018, a plastic drape, a patch with a pillow, or a three-pronged scarf may no longer appear in the first aid kit.

So what must be in the first aid kit: a bandage finished with one pad, a bandage finished with two pads, a smooth spool patch, rubber or latex gloves, scissors, a rubber choke bandage, and an isothermal foil measuring 200 x 140 centimeters.

In addition to all these things, you should of course carry your driver's license, technical license, and also a green card. In many cases, it is useful to have a form of a traffic accident with you, which is written out in the absence of the police in a car accident. The car should also have a car seat for every child who is not yet 150 centimeters and does not weigh over 36 kilograms.

In addition to the mandatory equipment of the car, it is advisable to have the recommended equipment in the car. Here it is up to you whether you will have the following items with you or not. These are, for example, jump leads, a canister with emergency petrol or diesel, medicines, and alcohol tester, or even a flashlight.

If you often go abroad, don't forget to look at the current composition of the first aid kit and the mandatory equipment of the car in that country. Although it is said that the first aid kit should be equipped according to the country where the car is registered, this right is poorly enforced in the event of any problem abroad. For example, keep in mind that you have a reflective vest abroad for all members of the car's crew (this is true in most countries). It is advisable to pack a tow rope with you.
