Protect yourself as a pedestrian through reflective garments
The dark season has begun and thus increases the risk of accidents for pedestrians, who are overlooked by other road users due to the darkness and often adverse weather conditions. It probably already happened to every car driver - suddenly a pedestrian appears in the spotlight, of which nothing has been seen recently. And when it's raining, glaring headlights or just a brief distraction, accidents are almost inevitable.
The most important protective measure is: Wear reflective clothing, safety vests or bracelets. The diagram illustrates the effect of impressively. While a dark-clad pedestrian is only perceived at a distance of 25 meters, the visibility when wearing reflective material increases to 120 meters!
What you should also know: The stopping distance of a car (distance traveled during the reaction time plus braking distance) is at a speed of 50 km / h even with strong full braking over 25 meters! Without reflective clothing, it is therefore usually already too late, when a pedestrian in the headlights of a car is recognizable.
